Berau‘s Tourism Asuransi Plan Delayed, County Supports Initiative for Visitor Safety
The regency government of Berau has temporarily shelved plans to implement insurance coverage for tourists visiting the area. Despite the delay, local officials remain supportive of the initiative aimed at enhancing safety and boosting tourist appeal.
Ilyas, a prominent local figure, expressed his endorsement, "Though discussions on this matter haven’t started yet, we fully support the idea." The asuransi program is seen as a strategic move to attract more visitors while providing a safety net at popular tourist spots like Bumi Batiwakkal.
"We’re all for anything that ensures the safety and comfort of our visitors," Ilyas emphasized, underscoring the importance of insurance in maintaining tourist confidence and promoting Berau as a safe and welcoming destination.
Previously, Berau’s Secretary, Muhammad Said, had proposed that the insurance coverage would be funded through entrance fees or retribusi collected from visitors to each attraction. This integrated approach would make insurance costs a seamless part of the visitor experience, eliminating additional concerns or expenses.
The necessity of such a plan is evident in the unpredictability of accidents that can occur in tourist areas. By integrating safety insurance into entrance fees, visitors can enjoy their experiences with peace of mind, knowing they’re protected in case of unexpected incidents.
While potential fee increases might be a concern, officials like Ilyas argue that it’s a reasonable trade-off for ensuring visitor safety.
