The accident, which temporarily shut down the road, occurred when a truck veered onto the wrong side of the highway and struck the snowplow. The snowplow operator was hurt and rushed to the hospital but was later released with minor injuries.
Heavy traffic piled up as the road was blocked for several hours. A detour was set up for lighter vehicles, while lorries were left waiting. The road reopened around lunchtime, according to reports from the Automobile Administration.
This incident is part of ongoing efforts to keep roads in the Ruse region safe from icing, with around 30 snowplows actively working. Power outages were reported in some areas overnight but have mostly been restored.
