Ukraine Braces for Dangerous Fog as Seven Regions Declared at High Alert
Parts of Ukraine will be blanketed by fog on Friday, December 27th, as the Ukrainian Hydrometeorological Center issued warnings for hazardous weather conditions. The I level of danger has been announced in several regions, including Carpathian regions, Volyn, Rivne, Zhytomyr, Kyiv, Cherkasy, and Sumy.
Eerie Mist to Disrupt Visibility
Residents in northern and Carpathian regions should expect dense fog in the morning and early afternoon, with visibility dropping to between 200 to 500 meters. The fog, combined with expected rain and snow on the western and southern regions, could lead to slippery roads and reduced visibility, posing a significant risk for motorists and pedestrians.
Weather Outlook for the Upcoming Weekend
As the weekend approaches, Ukraine will remain overcast. The southern region may experience light rain and sleet, accompanied by a mild ice glaze. Other parts of the country can expect fair weather, except for light fog in northern and western regions.
Wind direction will be predominantly north-eastern, with speeds up to 5-10 m/s. Temperatures range from -3°C to 2°C, with the Carpathian region experiencing colder conditions of -4°C to -9°C. Drier southern regions, including Crimea and Zakarpattia, will see highs of +1°C to +6°C.
Local Forecast for Kyiv and Kyiv Oblast
In Kyiv and the surrounding oblast, the day will be cloudy with little to no precipitation. Early morning and mid-day fog is expected. The wind will blow from the northwest at speeds of up to 5-10 m/s. Temperatures will hover around 0°C in the city, with a range of -3°C to +2°C in the region.
