Breaking: North Korean Forces Launch Large-Scale Ground Attacks in Ukraine‘s Kursk Region
In a significant development, the White House’s National Security Advisor, John Kirby, confirms that North Korean soldiers are executing mass ground attacks against Ukrainian positions in the Kursk region. This information, according to the AFP news agency, is based on U.S. intelligence reports.
"The strategy of these human waves, as we’ve seen, hasn’t been effective," Kirby stated. Meanwhile, South Korean intelligence reports suggest that around 1,000 North Korean soldiers have been killed in the past week.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has reported that nearly 3,000 North Korean troops have been killed or injured since Pyongyang’s involvement in the conflict earlier this fall. He emphasizes their substantial losses, saying, "They have big losses. Very big."
Zelenskyy also mentioned the capture of several North Korean soldiers by Ukrainian forces, though they were severely wounded and could not be saved. This comes amidst Russia’s ongoing attempts to reclaim areas in the Kursk region, including the deployment of North Korean soldiers.
According to South Korean intelligence, around 11,000 North Korean soldiers have been sent to Russia, with more en route. Neither Russia nor North Korea has validated these numbers. Kirby commented on the situation, saying, "It’s clear that Russian and North Korean military leaders view these soldiers as expendable, ordering them into futile attacks."
Kirby also noted the indoctrinated state of North Korean soldiers, who continue to attack despite evident futility. Reports suggest that some soldiers even take their own lives rather than be captured by Ukrainian forces, fearful of retribution against their families back home.
