Man Arrested for Suspected Spate of Armed Robberies in Bergen op Zoom

On Boxing Day, a 35-year-old man from Bergen op Zoom was arrested in connection with a series of armed robberies in the city, with his latest strike at a Domino’s Pizza outlet on theAntwerpsestraat on Thursday night. Following an identical modus operandi, police suspect the same perpetrator was behind a previous incident at the same restaurant three weeks earlier.

The suspect, described as approximately 1.75 meters tall, with a dark complexion and wearing a black leather jacket with fur collar, was quickly identified due to the consistency in the robbery descriptions. After menacing the staff and emptying the cash register at the Domino’s, police swiftly tracked down and arrested the suspect at his residence.

The arrested man had previously been detained following an initial robbery at another Bergen op Zoom establishment. Authorities suspected him of targeting additional businesses in the area, including a late-night shop and a liquor store, but insufficient evidence led to his earlier release.

This latest arrest follows recent reports of a second armed robbery at a local pizzeria within a brief period, highlighting the pressing nature of addressing such crimes in the community. Police continue to investigate and remind residents to stay vigilant and report any suspicious activity.
