Ministry of Health Approves Funds for Human Papilloma Virus Vaccine Acquisition
The Ministry of Health (Minsa) has authorized a budget transfer to the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO/WHO) to acquire doses of the quadrivalent Human Papilloma Virus (HPV) vaccine, amounting to up to 1,786,635 Peruvian soles.
This information is detailed in a ministerial resolution published on Saturday, April 20, in the Extraordinary Edition of the Legal Norms Bulletin of the Official Gazette The Peruvian. The document notes that this acquisition is necessary for the strategic public health initiatives defined by the Ministry of Health.
Moreover, it is specified that the transferred funds cannot be used for any purpose other than that for which they were allocated. The transfer, requested by the National Strategic Health Resources Procurement Center (Cenares), aims to secure a single-dose HPV vaccine for these interventions.
The PAHO/WHO has been instrumental in supporting Peru’s efforts to combat HPV and its associated diseases, such as cervical cancer. This vaccination campaign is a crucial step towards preventing HPV-related health issues, which are currently a significant public health concern.
This move by the Ministry of Health underscores the government’s commitment to investing in public health and preventive care. By ensuring the availability of these vaccines, the government is not only protecting the health of Peruvians but also promoting a healthier, more productive society.
