Title: Former Bulgarian Vice PM acquiring generator as Lovech region struggles with prolonged power outages
Former vice premier and finance minister under Boyko Borisov, Simeon Dyanakov, has announced his purchase of a generator following several days without power in his residence in the village of Apriltsi. The announcement was made on his social media platforms.
Dyanakov, who served in Borisov’s cabinet, is known to own a share in a three-star hotel in the tourist village. The hotel complex includes 18 rooms and two apartments, a 50-seater restaurant, a church dedicated to St. George with a bell tower, two swimming pools, a zoo, a carp pond, a summer beer garden with 50 seats, an operational authentic tava (stone oven), and a vegetable garden. Dyanakov uses a two-story building at the eastern end of the hotel complex, which was constructed during his tenure as minister.
Meanwhile, thousands of households in Lovech region are entering their fifth day without power due to ongoing damage in the electricity distribution network. The town of Raduyvane is particularly affected, with around 40 households still without electricity, according to Mayor Ignat Igniev. He expressed hope that repair teams would arrive to resolve the issue soon, as the situation was becoming critical.
Lovech Mayor Stratimir Petkov, who visited some of the affected villages yesterday, stated that residents’ frustration was growing due to the power outages. "Some are even threatening to disobey. The worst part is that these villages didn’t have water even during the summer," Petkov said, questioning the falling of 20-meter tall trees that caused the power disruption.
While power has been restored in most areas, there are still numerous individual households across other municipalities experiencing power outages.
