Breaking News: President Zelensky Appoints New Head of Kyiv Military Administration
President Vladimir Zelensky has issued a decree dismissing Sergei Popko from his position as the head of Kyiv’s military administration. In his place, the President has appointed Timur Tkachenko, who will now assume the role of the new leader of the Kyiv City Military Administration.
The Presidential decrees, numbered 897/2024 and 898/2024, have been published on the official presidential website, confirming the appointments. The decree states, "In accordance with Article 4 of the Law of Ukraine ‘On the Legal Regime of Martial Law,’ appoint Timur Tkachenko, Timur Firuddinovich, as the head of the Kyiv City Military Administration."
Tkachenko brings a wealth of experience to his new role, having previously served as the Deputy Minister for Strategic Industries. Prior to this, he held the position of Director of the Territorial Control Department within the Executive Committee of the Kyiv City State Administration.
With this appointment, President Zelensky continues to reshape his administration, seeking to strengthen Ukraine’s response to the ongoing challenges. The move is expected to bring fresh perspective and leadership to the critical position of overseeing the capital’s military affairs.
