In a report released by the local health authorities, Satu Mare County has witnessed a surge in acute respiratory infections (IACRS), pneumonia, and flu cases for the week ending December 29, 2024. While the number of confirmed COVID-19 cases remains low, the increase in other respiratory infections is a cause for concern.
Age-specific breakdown:
- IACRS: The 15-49 age group had the highest number of cases, with 131 individuals affected.
- Pneumonia: The 65+ age group saw the highest incidence, with 25 cases reported.
- Flu: The 15-49 age group was most affected, with 30 cases.
Flu vaccination drive underway
As of December 29, 2024, 11,834 individuals from at-risk categories have received the flu vaccine, distributed by family physicians. Officials encourage those in vulnerable groups to get vaccinated to protect themselves during the winter season.
