Bulgarian Reporter Blazhe Cicekov Leaves Nova TV for Education Role
After several years as a reporter, Blazhe Cicekov has announced his departure from Nova TV. The popular journalist revealed his future plans and the reason behind his decision to move on from the news profession.
In a heartfelt message, Cicekov expressed his gratitude towards Nova TV for their support and trust in him. "It’s time for this post. Just when you think you’ve gotten used to the rhythm, especially when it’s your choice, you realize it’s not that easy," he wrote. "From today, I am no longer part of the Nova News team. I leave with great appreciation for the trust and support the television station has shown me. They’ve made more than one of my dreams come true and challenged me every day."
Cicekov revealed that he has chosen to continue his professional journey in the field of education, an area he has been investing time and effort in parallel over the years. "I chose journalism because it allows you to tell the truth, ask questions, seek answers, and awaken empathy," he stated. "The work I’m starting tomorrow is also a calling – to change education to bring meaning to those who will stay in Bulgaria after us. I want to be able to answer the child who asks, ‘Why are we learning this?’ They are the ones who will pay our pensions, make our lives more fair, dignified, and free from corruption, low passions, and aggressive conflicts."
Cicekov has joined the Center for Creative Learning, a move he described as a "bold step." He cited the motivated and dedicated people he found in the field of education as his inspiration for the transition. "I’m not leaving journalism entirely, though," he clarified. "I’m just shifting from ‘fast’ journalism to ‘slow’ journalism, which demands more time for depth and reflection."
His colleagues at Nova TV surprised him with a series of unexpected treats on his last day, one of which was a heartwarming video message.
