"Nothing out of the ordinary," Jokowi said from his Solo residence in Central Java. "I’ve been called a PKI sympathizer, a Gerwani offspring, a foreign investor’s puppet, and even had my educational background questioned. It’s complete; I don’t know what else they could add."
Jokowi, who first entered public office as the Mayor of Surakarta (Solo) in 2005, has since served as the Governor of Jakarta and is currently in his second term as Indonesia’s President. Throughout his political career, he has become accustomed to such accusations.
