Title: Horrific Toll Tale: Stuck in Traffic, Drivers on Jakarta‘s Utara Face Robbers

A day on Jakarta’s Toll Road could turn deadly, as two unlucky drivers found out last Friday. Stuck in a gridlock on the Jakarta Utara Toll, they became victims of a brutal robbery.

The First Victim

Kabid Humas Polda Metro Jaya, Kombes Ade Ary Syam Indradi, detailed the chilling incident. Around 6 PM, a couple driving a car with the plates BA was caught in the jam at the Toll Access Point. What they didn’t know was that danger lurked nearby.

Six armed men suddenly besieged their car. "They tried to snatch the wife’s phone and injured her," Indradi revealed. The robbers fled with the phone, leaving the couple shaken and bloodied.

The woman suffered a cut on her finger, while their combined losses were estimated at IDR 1.5 million.

The Second Victim

At the same time and place, another driver, AF, faced a similar ordeal. A viral video showed him being mugged while waiting in the traffic. He tried to resist, but was rewarded with a slash on his back from the robbers’ weapons.

Indradi explained, "A man approached AF’s car, demanded money, and then three more men with weapons joined in. They took his bag, containing his documents and car keys, and injured his back."

AF was lucky to escape with just a flesh wound.

Police Action

Acting swiftly, police apprehended one suspect. "We’ve arrested the principle robber," said Jakarta Utara Police Chief, Kombes Ahmad Fuady. The hunt is still on for the remaining suspects.

Authorities warned drivers to always be vigilant, especially during heavy traffic. Keep valuables out of sight, windows up, and doors locked. If targeted, surrender your belongings peacefully rather than risk injury.
