Breaking News: Fugitive Ismail Ouhnou Suspected in Midt-Norway Break-In
Local authorities in Hustadvika municipality received a reported break-in at an uninhabited house in the Bud area late Saturday evening. The intruder fled the scene upon the arrival of residents, prompting police to initiate a search operation in the vicinity.
Possible Connection to Fugitive Ismail Ouhnou
Preliminary investigations suggest that the intruder may be Ismail Ouhnou, a convicted felon who escaped from Hustad Prison on Christmas Eve. The scene yielded evidence, including a notation and remnants of food near a heat source, that aligns with Ouhnou’s profile.
Extensive Search Efforts Underway
Police have been manhunting Ouhnou both locally and internationally since his escape. They are now employing additional resources, including police dogs and civilian assistance. Despite these efforts, he remains at large.
"The terrain and weather conditions favor him," said operaions leader Jørgen Molnes of the Møre og Romsdal Police District. "He has proven resourceful, and we’re appealing to the public for continued vigilance."
Ouhnou, detention for fraud, absconded from prison at 06:15 AM on December 25th, wearing a black jacket and red prison trousers. This is not the first time he has evaded capture, previously escaping from a Norwegian prison in 2015.
