In a heart-wrenching incident on Friday morning, a school bus carrying around 40 middle and high school students caught fire on the N273 highway near the Dutch town of Grathem. Miraculously, all students and the driver managed to evacuate the vehicle before it was completely consumed by the flames.

According to L1 Nieuws, the driver noticed a strange smell, followed by smoke pouring from the bus. Quickly assessing the situation, he decided to pull over and instruct the students to evacuate. Thanks to his swift action, a tragedy was averted.

The students, aged 12 to 18, were on their way to a technical school in the Belgian city of Maaseik, just across the border.Alternative transportation arrangements have been made for them.

While the cause of the blaze remains unknown, investigation is underway. The N273 highway has been temporarily closed to traffic while emergency services attend to the scene.
