Ukraine‘s Biлецький: A Ceasefire with Moscow Could Boost Modernization Efforts
In a recent interview with journalist Nataliя Мосейчук, Andrii Билецький, the commander of the 3rd Assault Brigade, shared his perspective on a potential ceasefire with Russia. Biлецький, known for his no-nonsense approach, emphasized that a truce could be beneficial if it allows Ukraine to focus on internal reforms and military modernization.
"There’s nothing inherently wrong with a ceasefire, whether it’s on January 20th or any other date," said Biлецький. He clarified that while a pause in conflict wouldn’t be disastrous, it’s crucial for Ukraine to avoid descending into chaos, endless internal power struggles, or hyper-focused debates on who’s the ‘bigger hero’ or ‘greater volunteer.’
Instead, Biлецький suggested using the opportunity to "start modernizing the country and our military." He stressed the importance of avoiding internal disarray and instead channeling efforts towards rebuilding and updating Ukraine’s infrastructure, technology, and defense systems.
As Ukraine continues to navigate its complex geopolitical landscape, Biлецького’s views serve as a reminder that while peace is desired, it must be accompanied by strategic planning andIf you want to keep your country safe and strong."
