Bulgarian Energy Minister Unveils Plans to Enhance Electricity Price Stability for Industry
In an initiative led by employer organizations, Bulgarian Energy Minister Vladimir Malinov discussed measures to secure predictability for industrial electricity consumers. During the meeting, representatives from the Association of Industrial Capital in Bulgaria, the Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the Bulgarian Industrial Association, and the Confederation of Employers and Industrialists in Bulgaria raised concerns about the budget for compensations for December 2024.
Due to heightened electricity consumption and prices exceeding initial projections for the July-December 2024 period, the program’s budget needs urgent update. Approximately BGN 543,349,135 has been disbursed thus far, with December 2024 compensations expected to total around BGN 186 million. These funds will be dispersed by the Energy System Security Fund in January 2025.
Minister Malinov confirmed that plans are underway to develop a program for the current 2025 fiscal year, with relevant parameters to be discussed with employer organizations following the approval of an extended state budget law by the National Assembly.
