After days of intense negotiations, a coalition government consisting of GERB, BSP, and ITN is taking shape, with Rosen Zhelyazkov set to become the new premier. The negotiations, which began over a week ago, have seen a shift in dynamics, with Democratic Bulgaria no longer in the picture.
EpiCenter.bg first reported the news, which was later confirmed by OFFNews sources, albeit with the caveat that nothing is set in stone yet. The talks continue, and the Bulgarian Socialist Party (BSP) will hold a party meeting over the weekend to approve the agreed-upon terms.
Together, the three parties command 106 votes in parliament. According to EpiCenter.bg, the coalition will rely on votes from Ahmed Dogan’s Movement for Rights and Freedoms (MRF) to secure a majority. However, OFFNews‘ source suggests that the coalition will instead rely on situational majorities, with possible support from Democratic Bulgaria and "We Continue the Change" even.
In the new cabinet, the BSP is expected to hold four ministerial posts, while ITN will have three. Each ministry will reportedly have deputy ministers from parties other than the one that nominated the minister.
