Video footage captured the stunned reactions of residents as the snake was carefully extracted from the palm tree by Michael Ronquillo of Humane Iguana Control.
Ronquillo identified the snake as a Burmese python and explained it likely entered the residential area via local canals. He noted the dangerous position of the snake, deeply concealed within the palm tree, which could have allowed it to easily attack a person or pet.
“It was so deep into this areca palm that it could easily snatch someone’s pet or attack a human,” Ronquillo said. “Luckily a neighbor walking kept an eye on it to see where it hid.”
Residents expressed shock at the size of the snake, with one woman heard exclaiming, “Oh gosh, oh my gosh,” as it was removed. Ronquillo, however, remained calm while handling the reptile, even commenting, “Yeah, I thought it would be bigger.”
