AT WXII 12 DOT COM. ALL RIGHT, WELL, HOPEFULLY THOSE EVENTS KICKING OFF HOPEFULLY ON DAVE. THE WEATHER WILL BE GOOD. YEAH, I THINK TOMORROW WE’RE GOING TO HAVE SOME CLOUDS WILL BE COOLER TOMORROW ADRIANA. AND THEN WE’LL GET SOME SHOWERS IN HERE MONDAY. THAT’S GETTING COLD AGAIN. AS WE GET IN A LITTLE BIT CLOSER TO NEW YEAR’S AND OR EVEN EARLIER, A COUPLE OF DAYS BEFORE THAT, AROUND TUESDAY. BUT WE’VE GOT MOSTLY CLEAR SKIES OUT THERE, STILL MILD ACROSS THE REGION, LOOKING OUT OVER GRAHAM AND ALAMANCE COUNTY AT THE MOMENT, ALL LIT UP FOR THE CHRISTMAS HOLIDAYS. YOU CAN SEE THERE SOME FOLKS AROUND, BUT DRY CONDITIONS OUT THERE AT THE MOMENT WHERE IT’S 61, NOT FAR FROM GRAHAM AND BURLINGTON RIGHT NOW, ALSO IN GREENSBORO, 64 WINSTON-SALEM, MOCKSVILLE AND LEXINGTON A FEW UPPER 50S AROUND REIDSVILLE 65. MOUNT AIRY AND MOUNTAIN COUNTIES ARE PRETTY MILD TO LOW TO MID 50S AT THIS HOUR. SO COMPARED TO THIS TIME YESTERDAY, WE’RE ANYWHERE FROM 10 TO 15 DEGREES WARMER THAN WE WERE JUST 24 HOURS AGO. AND THAT HELPS TO ADD UP TO THE FACT THAT WE HAD A RECORD HIGH TODAY. 75 WAS OUR RECORD FOR THE AIRPORT TODAY, AND THE OLD RECORD WAS 74. SO WE BEAT IT BY ONE DEGREE IN 2015. SO THAT’S THE SECOND RECORD HIGH WE’VE HAD IN AS MANY DAYS. WHEN CHRISTMAS DAY WAS ALSO AT 75, SO 25 DEGREES ABOVE OUR AVERAGE HIGH FOR THIS TIME OF YEAR. THE WARMEST DAYS FOR DECEMBER SO FAR WERE ON CHRISTMAS DAY. AND TODAY WE BOTH GOT 75. ON BOTH THOSE DAYS, 11 WAS THE LOWEST TEMPERATURE WE’VE SEEN SO FAR THIS MONTH. ON THE 15TH, 19 DEGREES AT 32 DEGREES OR COLDER. FOR OUR MORNING TEMPERATURES, WE’RE OVER AN INCH BELOW FOR PRECIPITATION. WE’VE PROBABLY GOT ONE MORE GOOD CHANCE OF SOME RAIN BEFORE THE YEAR COMES TO AN END. WE’VE BEEN FLIRTING WITH THESE FRONTS BACK OUT HERE FOR A WHILE. THEY FALL DOWN AND THEY KIND OF LIFT BACK OFF TO THE NORTH. WE WERE ON THE WARMER SIDE OF THIS FRONT TODAY. WILL BE ON THE COOLER SIDE OF IT TOMORROW, AND THE EXTRA CLOUDS WILL BE AROUND TOMORROW AS WELL. SO WE’LL START OFF LOW 40S IN THE MORNING. WE’LL GET TO THE UPPER 40S CLOSE TO 50 TOMORROW. THERE MIGHT BE A PASSING SPRINKLE OR SHOWER IN THE AFTERNOON IN THE PIEDMONT, ALSO INTO THE FOOTHILLS. THEY’LL GET UP TO AROUND 50 TOMORROW AFTERNOON. EVERYBODY IS GOING TO SEE SOME EXTRA CLOUD COVER TOMORROW. INTO THE MOUNTAINS. TEMPERATURES INTO THE UPPER 40S WITH THE EXTRA CLOUDS IN PLACE THERE AS WELL. The WXII 12 First Warning Weather Team is tracking wild temperature swings this weekend and another blast of cold air heading into the New Year.WILD TEMPERATURE SWINGS THROUGH THE WEEKEND The Triad has experienced two record highs in as many days this past Thursday (Christmas Day) and Saturday, both days were at 75 degrees! Buckle up! Sunday will be a much different story. Clouds roll in again, and a few sprinkles may be possible as well. Highs should be held in the 40s to low 50s on Sunday. Finally, a strong cold front on Monday will put an end to our wacky weather pattern. MONDAY RAIN AND WIND A strong cold front will approach from the west by Monday morning. Clouds will increase and winds will pick up, becoming quite gusty by Monday afternoon. 30-40 mph gusts will be possible across the Piedmont on Monday, with locally higher gusts possible in the mountains. A few showers may develop around midday as the front passes through, but rainfall is expected to be light and scattered. Clouds will clear and temperatures may fall Monday afternoon and evening as colder air arrives behind the front.COLDER AIR COMING NEXT WEEK Monday, a strong cold front will bring another batch of cold, Canadian air to the eastern U.S. We are expecting gusty winds and a few scattered showers as the front moves through, but the colder air coming behind it will be the main focus.
