Five Ohio hospitals have been recognized among the top 50 in the nation for “overall clinical excellence year over year” by Healthgrades, according to rankings released February 13, 2026. The analysis is based on more than 45 million Medicare medical claims from 4,500 hospitals nationwide and rates hospitals on 31 condition and procedure groups, focusing on clinical outcomes.
Ohio hospitals among the 50 best in the nation
Summa Health System’s Akron campus, located at 141 N. Forge St., has received the America’s 50 Best Hospitals Award for the third consecutive year (2024-2026). The hospital also received 19 other awards, including recognition among the 100 best for cardiac, critical, and pulmonary care.
Mercy Health-St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital, at 1044 Belmont Ave., was also named among the 50 best hospitals for 2026, along with nine other awards. We see also recognized as one of America’s 100 best hospitals for critical care and stroke care.
The Jewish Hospital-Mercy Health at 4777 E. Galbraith Road in Cincinnati has received the best 50 award for the third year in a row (2024-2026). Healthgrades also awarded it 10 other awards, including rankings among the 100 best for critical care, pulmonary care, and stroke care.
Mercy Health-Fairfield Hospital at 3000 Mack Road is also among the 50 best for the third year in a row, receiving an additional 13 awards, including top 100 rankings for cardiac, critical, and gastrointestinal care.
Cincinnati’s Mercy Health-West Hospital also made the list, receiving three additional awards alongside its 50 best ranking. This marks the third consecutive year for the hospital to achieve this honor.

Healthgrades also recognizes the top 100 and top 250 hospitals nationally. Three additional Ohio hospitals rank among the top 100, including Southwest General Health Center in Middleburg Heights, OhioHealth Grant Medical Center in Columbus, and Mercy Health-St. Rita’s Medical Center in Lima.
