Chargers Face Tough Loss to FDU Knights, Shaw Shines
The Dominican University New York men’s volleyball team suffered a 3-1 defeat against the FDU Knights on February 13, 2026, at the Hennessy Center. Despite a strong start and impressive performance by junior Ayden Shaw, the Chargers couldn’t maintain momentum against a resilient FDU team.
First Set Thrills, Subsequent Sets Slip Away
Dominican secured a hard-fought first set victory, 28-26, fueled by a late surge led by Ayden Shaw. Shaw contributed five consecutive service points, including an ace, to shift the momentum. He later recorded back-to-back kills, assisted by Jaiden Wilcox, to close out the set. However, FDU responded decisively, winning the following three sets with scores of 25-17, 25-18 and 25-18.

Ayden Shaw and Phinehas Wiley emerged as the offensive leaders for the Chargers, both recording 13 kills each. Shaw also showcased all-around skills with a .321 attack percentage, four service aces, and two block assists. Tommaso Falchi added five kills to the Chargers’ tally, while Alejandro Miranda anchored the defense with nine digs.

Jaiden Wilcox orchestrated the offense with 20 assists, while Seth Terry contributed nine assists, demonstrating a collaborative effort in setting up the Chargers’ hitters.
