Dezis Shines as NAU Women’s Golf Improves at Wallace Classic
PALM DESERT, Calif. – Junior Frankie Dezis carded a remarkable bogey-free 68 (-3) in the second round of the Alice and John Wallace Women’s Golf Classic on February 15, 2026, propelling the Northern Arizona University Lumberjacks up the leaderboard. The team now stands in sixth place.
Lumberjacks Climb the Leaderboard
NAU’s overall score is +21 (589) after a second-round total of +6 (290). Southern California leads the tournament at -15, holding a 24-stroke advantage over UCLA in second place at +9. USC’s Catherine Park currently leads all individual golfers with a score of -5, two strokes ahead of her nearest competitor.
Dezis’ Stellar Performance
Dezis, a native of Bath, England, began her round on the eighth hole and quickly found her rhythm. A 16-foot putt for birdie on the ninth hole (a 178-yard par three) set the tone for a stellar day. She then navigated the course with nine consecutive pars before securing back-to-back birdies on holes one and two. Dezis attributed her success to strong chipping and putting throughout the round.
This impressive performance moved Dezis up 40 spots on the leaderboard, placing her in a tie for 11th with a total score of +2 (144). This ties her career low, previously achieved as a freshman and again in the first tournament of her junior year.
Strong Support from Hodgkins and Neale
Fellow junior Amy Hodgkins and senior Lizzie Neale are also contributing strongly to the Lumberjacks’ performance, both currently tied for 22nd place at +5 for the two rounds.
Hodgkins, from Queensland, Australia, secured a birdie on the 12th hole but faced challenges until a strong finish, going two-under-par in her last four holes. She capitalized on the par-fives, earning birdies on holes two and five.
Neale, hailing from Nelson, Recent Zealand, overcame a gradual start, regaining composure after dropping shots on the first two holes. She secured a birdie on the 17th hole and another on hole one, finishing with five pars.
Lin and Lukyanenko Contribute
Freshman Lydia Lin’s 76 (+5) was the fourth counting score for NAU. She improved her position by six places and is now tied for 80th with a total of +15, having made birdies on holes nine, 12 and 18.
Senior Nina Lukyanenko shot a 77 for the day, with birdies on holes two and four, and is tied for 52nd at +10.
Individual Performances
Competing as individuals, sophomore Sumin Kang maintained consistency with a second consecutive round of 74 (+3), placing her in a tie for 30th at +6. Ava Bates carded an 86 (+15), with birdies on the 16th and 15th holes, and is in solo 94th place.
