A new album featuring the function of the late Nipsey Hussle and Bino Rideaux is slated for release this summer. The project, titled Prolific, will include the recently released single “Reckless,” which dropped on February 13th.
A Continued Collaboration
Nipsey Hussle and Bino Rideaux previously collaborated on the 2017 project No Pressure, which featured the songs “None of This” and “Blueprint” with Dave East. Some material for Prolific may have originated during those earlier recording sessions.
This album marks one of the few musical releases since Hussle’s death on March 31, 2019, following a shooting outside his Marathon Clothing store. Prior to his passing, Hussle collaborated with DJ Khaled on “Higher” featuring John Legend, released two months after his death, and with Jay-Z on “What It Feels Like” in 2021.
“Reckless” offers a glimpse into Hussle’s mindset, with lyrics including, “Doubt who I was for a second, now I see it clearer and it is not a game.” Bino Rideaux contributes to the track with lines such as, “‘Cause I been off that soda, make it hard to sleep, it’s a lot on my shoulders.”
