American Rapper Lil Poppa Found Dead at 25
Popular Florida rapper Lil Poppa, whose real name was Janarious Mykel Wheeler, was pronounced dead on Wednesday, February 18th, at 11:23 AM.
The Fulton County Medical Examiner’s Office confirmed the news to TMZ.
The cause of death was initially unknown. Approximately one day after the news broke, the magazine reported the cause:
The rapper died of a gunshot wound to the head, and the death was ruled a suicide.
The 25-year-old was signed to artist Yo Gotti’s (44) record label Collective Music Group (CMG) and released several hit songs in recent years, including “Love & War,” “Mind Over Matter,” and “HAPPY TEARS.”
The label released a statement regarding Lil Poppa’s passing a day after the news broke, describing him as a “beloved family member” and promising to honor his legacy with dignity and respect.
Poppa released the album “Almost Normal Again” with 16 tracks in August. As recently as February 13th, he released the single “Out of Town Bae.”
The rapper was scheduled to perform in Latest Orleans next month.
