CORTINA D´AMPEZZO – Slovakia’s Viktória Čerňanská and Lucia Mokrášová completed two runs in the women’s bobsleigh competition at the 2026 Winter Olympics in 16th place. They improved their position by two places compared to the first run, trailing the leading German team of Laura Nolte and Deborah Levi by 1.87 seconds.
A Historic Debut for Slovak Women’s Bobsleigh
Čerňanská and Mokrášová formed the first-ever Slovak women’s bobsleigh team to compete at the Olympic Games. The Slovak representatives aimed to finish within the top fifteen. They started sixteenth in the order on Friday at the bobsleigh track in Cortina d’Ampezzo.
After the first run, they were in 18th position with a time of 57.94 seconds. In the second round, they improved their performance by eight hundredths of a second, achieving the 15th fastest time (57.86). This resulted in a two-place improvement in their overall ranking.
German Dominance and Competitive Field
Following the second run, Laura Nolte and Deborah Levi, the defending gold medalists from Beijing and overall winners of the 2025/2026 World Cup, took the lead with an 18-hundredth-second advantage over their fellow Germans, Lisa Buckwitz and Neele Schuten.
Americans Kaillie Armbruster Humphries and Jasmine Jones dropped from first to third place, 23 hundredths of a second behind the leading German team. A total of 25 teams are competing, with the competition concluding on Saturday with the third and fourth runs (19:00/21:05).
