The North Dakota State Bison women’s basketball team achieved a historic milestone on Saturday, securing at least a share of the Summit League regular season title with an 81-68 victory over South Dakota. The game, played at the Sanford Coyote Sports Center in Vermillion, S.D., drew a crowd of 2,304.
A First for the Bison
This marks the first time in program history the Bison (25-2, 14-0 Summit) have claimed at least a share of the Summit League regular season title. The win also extends their current win streak to 23 games – the second-longest active streak nationally and the longest in Summit League history. NDSU has also secured the No. 1 seed in the upcoming Summit League Tournament for the first time.
Avery Koenen led all scorers with 30 points, shooting 10-of-14 from the field and 10-of-15 from the free throw line. She also recorded 14 rebounds and five assists. Molly Lenz contributed 11 points, although Jocelyn Schiller added another 11. Karrington Asp rounded out the top performers with 10 points off the bench.

Despite trailing at halftime, 30-28, the Bison rallied with a 9-2 run to capture a 48-40 lead after a three-pointer by Abby Graham. NDSU continued to build their lead, extending it to double digits with layups from Abby Krzewinski and Asp, making the score 54-42 late in the third quarter. The Bison ultimately led by as many as 20 points, finishing the game with an 81-68 victory.
The Bison will next host South Dakota State on Wednesday at 7:00 p.m. Inside the Scheels Center at the Sanford Health Athletic Complex. The game will be broadcast on ABC ND and Bison 1660.
