This year marks the 115th anniversary of International Women’s Day. The 2026 theme, “Give To Gain,” emphasizes the importance of generosity and shared responsibility in expanding access for women and girls through mentorship, visibility, and support.
Aldine ISD recognizes the contributions of women who have broken barriers and paved the way for future generations, including those within the district. The district too celebrates the women currently inspiring through their dedication, resilience, and leadership as teachers, administrators, staff, students, and families.
Demonstrating Solidarity
Staff and students are encouraged to wear purple with blue jeans on Friday, March 6, Wednesday, March 11, and Wednesday, March 25, as a visual demonstration of support and commitment to honoring women’s contributions. Purple symbolizes justice, dignity, and respect.
“Give To Gain” in Action
Aldine ISD defines “Give To Gain” as actions such as mentoring or tutoring female students, encouraging participation in STEM, fine arts, athletics, or leadership programs, and providing opportunities to build confidence and career readiness.
