The University of Wisconsin-Green Bay men’s basketball team received significant recognition from the Horizon League Monday, as two players earned All-League honors.
Phoenix Standouts Honored
Senior Preston Ruedinger was named to the All-League Second Team, while senior C.J. O’Hara earned a spot on the All-League Third Team. Both players started all 31 games for the Phoenix this season.
Ruedinger averaged 11.6 points, and 3.8 rebounds per game, and finished third in the Horizon League with 5.3 assists per game. Head coach Doug Gottlieb credited Ruedinger with a key role in the team’s improvement this season, stating, “He is everything to this team.” Gottlieb added that Ruedinger “should be the one responsible for the turnaround of Green Bay basketball.”
O’Hara led the Phoenix in scoring, averaging 14.2 points per game. He scored in double figures in 26 games this season, including 11 of the team’s regular season contests, and finished second on the team with 4.5 rebounds per game.
As a No. 5 seed, Green Bay will host No. 6 seed Purdue Fort Wayne in a tournament game Tuesday at 7 p.m. At the Kress Center. Green Bay previously defeated Purdue Fort Wayne by margins of 17 and 18 points earlier this season.
