Manila – A strengthened and more integrated security approach was formalized by Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. Following the 5th National Joint Peace and Security Coordinating Center (JPSCC) meeting held on March 3, 2026, at Camp Crame in Quezon City.
Enhanced Collaboration
Gen. Nartatez convened with Lt. Gen. Rommel Roldan, deputy chief of staff of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP), and Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) Commandant Admiral Ronnie Gil Gavan. The high-level conference aimed to create what officials described as a “single and impenetrable security blanket” for the archipelago.
According to a news release, Gen. Nartatez stated that the meeting was “a regular meeting of the minds to discuss ways in further improving our operational capabilities, especially in terms of intelligence-sharing and interoperability, for the protection and peace of mind of the Filipino people.”
New Resolutions and Directives
During the meeting, the body formalized JPSCC Resolution No. 01-2026, focused on sustaining Stable Internal Peace and Security Areas (SIPS). They similarly approved Joint Letter Directive No. 01-2026, which provides unified guidelines for SIPS implementation.
The agencies also adopted the Joint AFP-PNP-PCG Strategic Communication Plan, known as PAGKAKAISA.
Gen. Nartatez directed intensified real-time intelligence coordination with the AFP and PCG, and ordered more joint visibility patrols in urban centers and coastal areas, along with increased monitoring of identified security hotspots. He assured the public that “the security sector remains prepared amid evolving threats.”
