Zoox Robotaxis Now Bookable on Uber in Las Vegas & LA

Robotaxis from Amazon’s subsidiary Zoox will soon be bookable via the Uber app. Operations will initiate in Las Vegas at the conclude of the year, followed by Los Angeles in 2027. Uber is thus continuing to scale its autonomous services.

In the future, the autonomous “Toasters” from Zoox will be bookable via the Uber app in Las Vegas and Los Angeles.

Robotaxi developer Zoox and Uber are entering into a multi-year partnership. As part of the collaboration, the autonomous shuttles of Amazon’s subsidiary will soon be bookable via the Uber app. The launch is planned for the end of this year in Las Vegas, with Los Angeles to follow next year. Access will also remain available through the existing Zoox app.

Zoox has been developing its own robotaxi, designed from the ground up for autonomous operation, since 2014. The all-electric shuttle is specifically designed for inner-city transport, according to the company. With the cooperation now agreed upon, Zoox aims to expand its commercial presence and reach additional user groups.

Uber is focusing on various robotaxi providers

Uber has been building its own platform for autonomous mobility services for several years, after initial setbacks. The company is expanding its offering beyond classic ride-hailing services. The mobility provider deliberately relies on offerings from various providers in different regions. Robotaxis from Waymo can currently be ordered via the Uber app in Austin, Atlanta, or Phoenix.

there are new partnerships with Lucid, Nuro, Momenta, and also with Volkswagen subsidiary Moia. With the latter, Uber plans to develop the services of the newly developed, self-driving ID. Buzz AD available on the streets of Los Angeles later this year. Tens of thousands of these autonomous Bullis are expected to be deployed in the US in the medium term.

Zoox, meanwhile, points to progress in preparing for series operation: The company is already active in Las Vegas and is testing its vehicles via the Explorers program in San Francisco. According to its own statements, more than one million autonomous miles have been completed and over 300,000 passengers have been transported. The collaboration with Uber is to be gradually expanded as operations, technology, and processes are further stabilized.
