TAMWORTH, NH – A floor collapse at a wedding venue in Tamworth, New Hampshire, sent six adults to area hospitals Saturday, with multiple other guests treated at the scene. The incident occurred at The Preserve at Chocorua’s Sap House at approximately 4:33 p.m. On March 21, 2026.
Floor Collapse During Wedding Ceremony
According to a press release from State Fire Marshal Sean P. Toomey and Tamworth Fire/Rescue Chief Richard Colcord, about 144 people were on the floor of The Sap House when it collapsed into the basement. Nearly 70 guests, roughly half of those present, fell through an approximately 20-by-20-foot opening.
Initial responders found that venue staff and wedding guests had already begun providing first aid and assisting those who had fallen. Firefighters then assisted with evaluations and treatment of injuries. Four of the six adults transported to hospitals have since been released.
Investigators have stated that the building was believed to be over capacity at the time of the collapse. The investigation is still in its early stages.
