Chef Kara Vorabutr, known for her work as Bistro Blue and Cacio y Bebe, is returning to Los Angeles for a one-night-only culinary event featuring her latest project, Kissing Cowboys Country Cafe.

The event is scheduled for Sunday, May 17, from 7:00 p.m. To 11:00 p.m. It will be hosted at the Loop Espresso Club, located at 1712 Colorado Boulevard.

Sierra Foothills Influence and Menu

Vorabutr describes Kissing Cowboys as being “dedicated to sharing the flavors of my new home in the Sierra Foothills paired with your favorite comfort foods.” The menu will feature several comfort-style dishes, including:

  • Cornflake-crusted chicken
  • Shrimp and grits
  • Buttery corncobs
  • Banana pudding

The chef has indicated that more items may be added to the menu. In addition to the food, the event will include karaoke, cold beer from Skyduster Beer and complimentary tastings of mead that Vorabutr has been brewing in her new home. Expressing her enthusiasm for the event, Vorabutr stated, “Let’s get rowdy.”

Context and Significance

This pop-up represents a rare opportunity for Los Angeles residents to experience Vorabutr’s current creations. The chef previously established a presence in the city through a successful residency at La Fe Bar that ran from March to June 2025.

While La Fe Bar has since closed, there is a possibility that the establishment may yet return in the future.
