HMD Touch AI Launched: Nokia Lumia-Style Mini Phone with AI Features

Vendor HMD has launched the HMD Touch AI in China on Sunday, July 26, 2026, according to Gizmochina reports cited by KompasTekno. The device features a design reminiscent of the classic Nokia Lumia series, paired with artificial intelligence tools aimed at managing daily activities.

HMD Touch AI Specifications and Design

The device builds on the physical framework of the original HMD Touch launched in India in October 2025, but incorporates local AI features tailored for the Chinese market. According to HMD, the hardware includes a circular rear camera module mirroring Lumia aesthetics and a front face dominated by a 3.2-inch touchscreen with a capsule-shaped home button. Both the front and rear cameras are rated at 2 megapixels. Power is supplied by a battery that recharges via a USB-C port. Connectivity options cover 4G dual SIM support, WiFi, and mobile hotspot sharing capabilities.

Doubao AI Integration and Software

The core functionality of the HMD Touch AI relies on Doubao AI, a machine learning model developed by TikTok parent company ByteDance. According to HMD specifications, this software handles language translation between Mandarin and English, generates images from text prompts, and identifies or organizes objects within photographs. The operating system utilizes a simplified interface designed to reduce digital distraction. It includes parental controls to limit excessive device dependency and integrates directly with the Alipay service for digital transactions in China.

Physical Buttons and Pricing

The handset features a programmable physical button on its side, which can be configured for emergency SOS calls to designated contacts. Company representatives have not yet disclosed release plans for international markets outside of China.
