The San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department identified the victim of a fatal Chino Hills kidnapping and shooting as 60-year-old Shukur Aikebaer of Chino Hills, according to the Los Angeles Times. Investigators identified the two suspects as brothers Jianquan Bo, 66, and Zhengfeng Bo, 67, both of Irvine.
Victim and Suspects Identified in Chino Hills Kidnapping and Shooting
According to the ABC7 Los Angeles report, the sequence of events began on Wednesday night on Monteverde Drive in Chino Hills. Authorities stated that Aikebaer was inside his home during a power outage, which prompted him to go outside. Investigators are looking into whether the power was purposely turned off as a ruse to draw him out. Once outside, Aikebaer was shot once and forced into the trunk of a car.
Police received a call reporting gunshots and screaming just after 10 p.m., according to cbsnews.com. Responding deputies spotted a Nissan with Oregon license plates driving away from the scene and attempted a traffic stop. The vehicle led deputies on a pursuit that ended in the 2400 block of Wandering Ridge Drive.
Pursuit Ends in Fatal Confrontation
During the traffic stop, deputies ordered the driver and passenger out of the vehicle. The passenger, Jianquan Bo, complied and was taken into custody without injury. However, the driver, Zhengfeng Bo, did not comply. According to the Sheriff’s Department, Zhengfeng Bo exited the vehicle, walked to the trunk, and fired a shot into the victim trapped inside.
Deputies then opened fire on the driver. Lifesaving measures were initiated for both the driver and the victim, but both were pronounced dead at the scene. Jianquan Bo was booked on suspicion of murder and kidnapping and remains in custody without bail at the West Valley Detention Center.
Business Connections and Ongoing Investigation
Authorities stated that Aikebaer and Zhengfeng Bo knew each other through a previous working relationship. Business records show Aikebaer listed as a partner and Zhengfeng Bo as the president of Panshi LLC, a business founded in 2018 and registered to an Irvine office building. Eyewitness News obtained business records showing the men held roles together in at least two LLCs involved in lawsuits filed this year.
Zhengfeng Bo’s attorney stated that the legal controversy involves a $20 million apartment complex in Pasadena, adding that Bo was suing former managers of the complex who allegedly blocked him from taking control of the property. While Aikebaer was not named in the lawsuits, the attorney described him as a middleman who allegedly introduced the suspect to the person involved in the dispute.
Overnight following the incident, the sheriff’s department served a search warrant at the Irvine home shared by the two suspects on Crossover near Benchmark, where authorities recovered evidence. A GoFundMe was established to support Aikebaer’s wife and three daughters, as he was the family’s sole provider.
