Audience members at The Boston Globe received a historic surprise on Sunday, August 2, 2026, when frontman Zac Brown gifted more than 37,000 fans complimentary cruise vacations for two aboard Margaritaville at Sea. According to a press release, the massive audience giveaway is valued at more than $40 million and was paid for personally by Brown to thank fans for supporting his career and to celebrate the band’s 15th consecutive sold-out show at the Boston venue.
Zac Brown Band Surprises Fenway Park Crowd With Massive Cruise Giveaway
The Zac Brown Band, which made its debut at the ballpark in 2014, currently holds the record for the most consecutive sold-out performances and tickets sold in Fenway Park’s history. Following the milestone, the band was inducted into the Fenway Music Hall of Fame in 2022.
On-Stage Announcement and Fan Reactions
Brown delivered the surprise right before the group performed their song Same Boat,
a 2021 collaboration with the late Jimmy Buffett. Before making the announcement, the band played a video tribute showing Buffett passing down a tiki torch to Brown.

Tonight we’re going to do something that even Jimmy would say is crazy,
Brown told the crowd, according to NBC Boston. I’m buying every single person here a cruise for two people on the boat. This is the biggest giveaway in history ladies and gentlemen, right here tonight at Fenway Park!
As giant screens displayed instructions and a QR code for fans to use, Brown urged concertgoers to sign up before the midnight Sunday deadline. While some audience members reacted with disbelief and excitement, others were left temporarily stunned or humorously skeptical. We signed up for this hoping its real,
said attendee Isabelle Cilley of Swampscott, noting that while cruises are not normally her preference, she was willing to attend a free voyage.
Partnership With Margaritaville at Sea
Christopher Ivy, chief executive officer of Margaritaville at Sea, issued a statement praising the collaboration. We were honored to work alongside Zac to help bring this incredible surprise to life for his fans,
Ivy said. This was an extraordinary way to thank the fans who have supported him throughout his career, and we’re proud to have helped make that incredible vision a once-in-a-lifetime reality.
Fans who successfully responded to the Boston giveaway will sail aboard the brand-new Beachcomber ship, which is set to debut in January 2027. The vessel features an artist-curated live music venue named Same Boat,
which was co-designed by Brown in tribute to his work with Buffett.
Tour Context and Future Plans
The Fenway Park stop was part of the band’s 27-date Love & Fear Tour, which kicked off in July in Grand Rapids, Michigan, and runs through November following a December 2025 residency at the Sphere in Las Vegas. While the massive venue-wide giveaway was unique to the Boston concert, the band has collaborated with Margaritaville at Sea to award four cruises per show at other stops along the tour.
Looking ahead, Brown indicated that his affinity for playing at Fenway Park remains as strong as ever. I don’t think there’s going to be a time when I’m like, ‘Eh, I don’t really want to play Fenway,’
Brown told The Boston Globe ahead of the Sunday performance. Like, I’m in. And I’ll be like Willie [Nelson], I’ll be playing until I can’t play anymore.
