According to the Food Safety Authority of Ireland (FSAI), over 40 Dunnes Stores Baxter & Greene products containing sesame seeds are currently being recalled due to the presence of salmonella. The affected items span ready-to-eat sandwiches, wraps, and salads, including selections served at deli and salad bars in designated stores.

SuperValu Seed Mix 200g has been pulled from shelves under batch codes 163 and 166 carrying a best-before date of May 2027, alongside batch 191 marked for June 2027, according to the FSAI. This follows an earlier Wednesday directive for SuperValu Sesame Seeds 200g under batch codes 167 and 168 with a May 2027 best-before date.

- Sysco Sesame Seeds 1kg: Batch 147 (April 2027), batch 169 (May 2027), and batches 189 and 203 (June 2027).
- Bulk Sesame Seeds 25kg: Lot numbers 32308 and 32704, best-before March 1, 2027.
- Sowans Sesame Seeds 100g: Batch 155, best-before May 2027.
- Compania Indilor Orientale Susan Sesame Seeds: 50g packs, batch L1312242, best-before July 2026.
Retailers have been instructed to remove all implicated stock from points of sale.
Salmonella Symptoms and Vulnerable Health Groups
Infected individuals typically experience the onset of salmonellosis symptoms between 12 and 36 hours after exposure, though the incubation window can span from six to 72 hours, as stated by the FSAI. The primary symptom is diarrhoea, which can occasionally present with blood.
Additional indicators of infection include fever, headaches, and abdominal cramps. The resulting illness generally runs a course of four to seven days. In severe cases, the intensity of diarrhoea necessitates hospital admission.
Elderly individuals, infants, and people with compromised or impaired immune systems face a substantially higher likelihood of developing severe clinical complications.

Consumers in possession of any recalled items are advised by the FSAI not to consume them under any circumstances. Retailers must pull all listed batches from sale immediately, and commercial caterers have been formally directed to halt the use of these ingredients in food preparation.
