Czech Studio Creates Cinematic Cutscenes for Upcoming Game Remake

According to studio representatives, the upcoming Heroes of Might and Magic III Remake features cinematic sequences developed by Prague-based studio All Animal, which Ubisoft plans to release next year following its presentation at the Gamescom trade show. The project revives the 1998 strategy title through updated 3D assets and three minutes and forty-two seconds of newly reimagined cinematic storytelling.

Development and Cinematic Production at All Animal

Studio head Marek Štolún stated that the Prague team prepared ten cinematic scenes and promotional videos for the project. According to Štolún, development involved migrating original 2D character designs into a three-dimensional environment, with principal work focused on rebuilding the main character, Catherine, from the ground up. Ubisoft brand director Eric Damian-Vernet noted that the Czech studio actively contributed creative ideas beyond initial project requirements.

Did you know? One of the developers at All Animal, Radim Zeifert, initially rebuilt a castle from the original game in Unreal Engine 5 five years ago and published the work on ArtStation, which caught the attention of Ubisoft’s creative director in Chengdu.

Technical Approach to Visuals and Cinematic Design

To capture the tone of the 1990s originals while meeting modern standards, All Animal focused specifically on camera behavior. Štolún explained that the team emulated real Canon lenses, natural lens flares, chromatic aberration, and intentional color grading to eliminate a sterile digital feel from the dark fantasy scenes. The team spent two months revising and shortening the script to fit production constraints while allowing the footage to run as a cohesive short film.

Alternative Projects and Industry Work

Beyond the Ubisoft remake, All Animal routinely produces promotional trailers for Blizzard Entertainment, handling approximately five projects per year for titles such as World of Warcraft. Meanwhile, Štolún is involved with VooDoo Kollektiv on the development of Jiří Kára Simulátor, a boomer shooter based on a viral YouTube video set in post-communist Prague.
