Major telecommunications carriers have launched aggressive preorder incentives for the iPhone 18 lineup, highlighted by T-Mobile offering the iPhone 18 Pro On Us promotion. Preorders open on September 12, giving consumers up to $1,200 in trade-in credits ahead of the official September 18 retail rollout.
Major wireless providers are officially locked in a competitive scramble to capture early buyers following Apple’s September 9 Surprise and Shine product unveiling. With preorders launching on September 12, carriers including T-Mobile, AT&T, and Verizon are rolling out extensive promotional credits and trade-in packages to sway consumers toward the new flagship devices.
Carrier Preorder Offers and Trade-In Structures
The annual release brings four fresh colorways—deep black, silver, burgundy, and glacier blue—alongside higher base pricing. The standard iPhone 18 Pro starts at $1,199, while the Pro Max commands $1,299 for 256GB storage configurations, with storage options going up to 2TB, marking a $100 price jump over previous generations. To offset these steep retail stickers, major carriers are structuring extensive multi-year service commitments and hardware trade-in terms.
T-Mobile is leading with a prominent homepage promotion giving customers an iPhone 18 Pro through bill credits distributed across a 36-month period, though there is a one-time $35 connection charge. To secure the promotion, buyers must switch carriers and port in their number or trade in an eligible phone in any condition, all while pairing the hardware with the Experience Beyond plan, which costs $100 per month for a single line with AutoPay (plus taxes and fees). The plan gives you unlimited talk, text, and 5G premium data, along with perks like Netflix (Standard with ads) and Hulu subscriptions, Apple TV for $3/mo, unlimited mobile hotspot, T-Satellite, phone upgrade eligibility every year, and a 5 year price guarantee, plus unlimited text and 30GB of high-speed data in Canada and Mexico and unlimited text and 15GB of high-speed data in over 215 other countries. T-Mobile also features alternative pathways, offering up to $930 in trade-in value when you switch a line to T-Mobile’s Experience More or Go5G Plus plans, and you can also get up to $800 in credit to pay off your current device just by switching to AT&T.

Rival networks are matching with distinct financial incentives tailored to different subscriber needs. AT&T provides the iPhone 18 Pro for free or up to $1,200 off iPhone 18 Pro Max with qualifying trade-ins of iPhone 14 or later and activation on AT&T Premium 2.0 plan or higher. Meanwhile, Verizon grants up to $1,200 off when you add a new line (with qualified trade-in) on eligible myPlan or up to $1,020 off when you upgrade with an eligible trade-in on existing myPlan. Apple itself offers trade-ins where you can trade in an iPhone 13 or later model and get between $175 and $885 in credit towards the iPhone 18 Pro or Pro Max.
Hardware Upgrades in the iPhone 18 Generation
Beyond carrier discounts, the underlying hardware introduces significant performance architecture. The Apple iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max upgrades the APU to the new Apple A20 Pro processor built on a new 2-nanometer process technology. Apple claims 40% greater graphics performance over the previous iPhone. Other notable upgrades include a main camera that’s now equipped with variable aperture from f/1.48 to f/4.0 and faster 60W charging.

Attention has concentrated heavily on the newly introduced foldable iPhone Duo, which will carry a sticker price of $1,999. Unlike the traditional flagship slab models hitting shelves on Friday, Sept. 18, the Duo won’t be available to preorder until October (specifically October 16). The iPhone Duo will be a foldable smartphone with two displays: a 5.4screen when the phone is folded and a larger 7.6
screen when it’s unfolded, making this Apple’s thinnest iPhone ever (in unfolded mode). It will be equipped with the same Apple A20 Pro processor found in the iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max.
Market Response and Alternative Retailers
Apple (AAPL) was in focus on Friday as KeyBanc Capital Markets conducted its monthly carrier survey, which showed some positives ahead of next month’s iPhone launch, while shares were little changed in premarket trading. KeyBanc Capital Markets noted via its KFLD that Indexed Spending was up 9% month-over-month, which is above normal expectations.
Smaller carriers like Visible and Total Wireless are offering up to half off the new iPhone if you sign up for certain plans, with Total Wireless offering to save $600 on iPhone 18 Pro or Pro Max on the All Access plan, and Visible allowing you to buy the iPhone 18 Pro with Visible+ Pro and receive $480 through monthly service credits for new and existing members. Major box retailers such as Walmart don’t have any preorder deals just yet, but you can finance the new iPhone and pay as little as $78/month if you qualify through OnePay, a Klarna-backed service, while Xfinity lets you get the iPhone 18 Pro Max for free with a qualifying trade-in and device payment plan on the Mobile Plus plan. Amazon’s iPhone 18 Pro listings aren’t live as of this writing, and Amazon typically isn’t the best place to shop for Apple smartphones, though users can preorder the new AirPods 5 and Apple Watches at Amazon.
