Metro Detroit Experiences Cool Morning Starts and Warming Trends
Slightly cooler-than-average temperatures are in store across Metro Detroit today, giving the region an early taste of fall once again. Rain chances will persist this morning across the Thumb, but most of Southeast Michigan will remain dry. It will be a cool morning at the bus stop for students heading back to school in Dearborn, Detroit, Livonia and Rochester. Morning temperatures will start out in the 50s across Metro Detroit, so a light jacket or sweatshirt will come in handy.
Sunshine will return for most of the region today, with just some isolated cloud cover developing closer to Port Huron. Afternoon temperatures will climb into the mid-70s, several degrees below average for late August. A bit of a breeze will add to the early-fall feel. A warming trend develops through the middle of the week. Temperatures will gradually climb, with the next chance for rain arriving late Wednesday into Thursday. A Marginal Risk, or Level 1 of 5, for severe thunderstorms is possible during this period.

Treasure Valley and Idaho Face Strong Low-Pressure Systems
A warmer start to the week won’t last long as a strong low-pressure system moves toward the region. Treasure Valley highs reach the upper 80s to low 90s today, with similar temperatures Tuesday. A few thunderstorms are possible in south-central Idaho today, then the storm chance move into the central Idaho mountains Tuesday afternoon. Winds also increase Tuesday, with gusts around 30 mph possible across the region.

The low may stick around the Oregon coast into Friday before possible bringing another round of showers this weekend or early next week.
