Nissan plans to launch the Rogue e-Power hybrid in the US in November, targeting a 30% to 40% share of mid-sized C-segment sales.
Nissan Rogue e-Power US Launch and Sales Targets
Nissan is bringing its e-Power hybrid technology to the United States this November with the launch of the Rogue e-Power hybrid. Christian Meunier stated that the automaker aims for hybrids to quickly capture 30% to 40% of total C-segment mid-sized car sales in the US market. While Nissan has sold more than 2 million e-Power vehicles globally, the setup has not previously been available to buyers in the United States.
To support this push, US production of the Rogue e-Power could begin as early as 2028, according to Meunier. The company also intends to bring the smaller Kicks e-Power hybrid to the US and Canada as soon as possible, with future plans to expand hybrid powertrains into larger SUVs and pickup trucks.
Manufacturing Localization and Tariff Impacts
Nissan is targeting an 80% localization rate for its US manufacturing by the end of 2030. Meunier noted that current localization sits at about 65%, up significantly from 40% before US tariffs were imposed in early 2025.
Industry Competition and Chinese Automakers
Addressing competitive pressures, Meunier stated he does not expect the US market to open to Chinese automakers over the next five years. He explained that most automakers strongly oppose such a move due to concerns over low-priced Chinese competition.
Even so, Nissan is preparing for the eventual arrival of Chinese automakers in the US by shortening vehicle development cycles and reducing manufacturing costs. As part of its broader regional strategy in the Americas, the car maker also plans to launch the China-made Frontier Pro plug-in hybrid pickup in Mexico and select Latin American markets.
