Activision Ends Warzone Support on PS4 and Xbox One as It Arrives on Switch 2

Activision officially shut down Call of Duty: Warzone on November 6, 2026, ending the battle royale game on legacy hardware.

Legacy Consoles Left Behind

The shutdown arrived as Season 1 of Modern Warfare 4 launched. Activision announced the decision in May.

PlayStation 4 and Xbox One owners lost support for engine and gameplay changes tied to the new release. New downloads ended on June 4.

The in-game store was removed on June 25, according to Gamenewsplus. Warzone updates are tied directly to the newest Call of Duty entry.

Modern Warfare 4 was not built for PlayStation 4 or Xbox One. The older consoles could no longer support the battle royale action.

Modern Warfare 4 previously landed on the Nintendo console on October 23. This was the first Call of Duty title released on a Nintendo platform since Ghosts launched on the Wii U in 2013.

Infinity Ward developed that native port for the handheld system with assistance from Digital Legends.

Season 1 introduces fresh gameplay mechanics like the Zipline Launcher and Grabber Drone. It also adds moveable fuel barrels, pushable cover, Weapon Augments, Grind for Royalty, and Ground Ops.

Players explore the X01 Black Site in DMZ to uncover secrets and collect Operator Skins, Weapon Blueprints, and DMZ Survival Kits.
