Canadian Cassie Sharpe suffered a significant fall during the women’s freeski halfpipe qualification. The athlete remained motionless for several minutes before being transported off the course on a stretcher.
Medical personnel quickly attended to Sharpe, who was then carried away on a sled wearing a neck brace. She acknowledged the crowd with a wave as she was moved from the halfpipe.
Qualification resumed following the incident.
Sharpe had already completed a strong first run, placing her third before her second attempt in the halfpipe. The run began well but ended with the severe fall.

The initial run provided enough points for Sharpe to qualify for the final, scheduled for Saturday. However, her condition casts doubt on her ability to compete.
At the 2022 Beijing Olympics, Sharpe secured a silver medal behind freestyle skiing star Eileen Gu. Gu, who was born and raised in the United States, also qualified for the final.
Sharpe previously won gold at the 2018 Pyeongchang Olympics.
