A resident of Springfield, 16 Amana Estate, and Tone Street, Ballina, Co. Mayo, PJ, passed away after a short illness at Mayo University Hospital, surrounded by family.
A Life Remembered
PJ is predeceased by his wife, Jean, his parents Paddy and Kitty Walkin, and his brothers Tony and John, as well as members of the Gilmartin family from Sligo. He is survived by his sons, Alan and Garrett, and his daughter, Sinéad.
He will be deeply missed by his partner, Kathleen, his daughter-in-law Jacqui, son-in-law Aidan, Alan’s partner Naz, his sister Maura Gannon, and his brothers Gerry, Eamon, Séamus, and Vincent. His memory will also be cherished by his nieces, nephews, in-laws, and a wide circle of friends.
Funeral Arrangements
Reposing will take place at McGowan’s Funeral Home, Ballina (Eircode F26 V274) on Monday, January 12th, from 5:00pm until 6:30pm. The funeral will proceed to St. Muredach’s Cathedral, Ballina, for Requiem Mass on Tuesday, January 13th, at 11:30am.
Following the mass, PJ will be laid to rest in Leigue cemetery, Ballina. For those unable to attend in person, the funeral mass will be live streamed on www.ballinaparish.org.
The family has requested that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to The North West Hospice, either through McGowan’s Funeral Home, Ballina, or online at https://www.northwesthospice.ie/donations/.
