Coslada Celebrates 29 Years of School Olympics, Fostering Community Through Sport
The XXIX edition of the Coslada School Olympics came to a close this Friday, March 20, 2026, at the Valleaguado sports complex. The event saw the participation of 5,000 students from 19 educational centers across the municipality.
Mayor Ángel Viveros, accompanied by Education Councilor José Sousa, attended the closing ceremony, highlighting the importance of social interaction in an increasingly digital world. Viveros emphasized the value of these games in providing opportunities for students from different schools to connect and collaborate.
Councilor Sousa underscored the event’s longevity, noting that this marks the 29th year of the School Olympics in Coslada, with growing participation each year. He specifically thanked the CEIP Antoni Tàpies, the organizing center for this year’s games, for their dedication and smooth execution.
A Tradition of Collaboration Since 1994
The Coslada School Olympics have been a collaborative effort between local schools and the City Council since the 1993-1994 academic year. The CEIP Antoni Tàpies led the coordination of activities this year, working with physical education teachers from all 19 participating schools.
The organization involves ongoing meetings throughout the year to plan and implement the games, ensuring a well-structured and engaging experience for all students. This year’s event focused on collaborative activities rather than solely competitive ones.

The event was also attended by the first deputy mayor, Fernando Romero, and the municipal government team.
