Election After-Party Draws Crowd Outside West Lake Hills Compound
About 60 people gathered outside a West Lake Hills compound affiliated with billionaire Elon Musk on Saturday, Nov. 7, 2026, to celebrate that his midterm campaign donations went mostly to losing candidates, the statesman.com reported.
Activists arrived at noon in two blue Fly-Rides party buses and about a dozen cars, holding a street dance party with music, birthday party hats, inflatable costumes, and refreshments. Austin Police received a call reporting alcohol use at the event, but officers reported seeing no evidence of it upon response, according to statesman.com.
Musk spent millions on failed campaigns
Musk spent approximately $474 million during the election cycle via donations to Republican candidates, political action committees, and outside spending organizations. Roughly $212 million supported Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton, who lost his bid for a U.S. Senate seat to Democrat James Talarico, who formerly represented Austin in the Texas House, statesman.com reported.
Musk used his platform on X to attack Talarico and encourage votes for Republican senators. On Wednesday, Musk posted on X, “Guess my election-interfering space lasers didn’t work this time,” adding a shrug emoji and following it with an image stating technical difficulties.
Supporters celebrate outside the home
Eli Cortez, a 28-year-old bus captain for VOCAL-TX, sipped Martinelli’s cider from a plastic champagne coupe near the home’s wrought-iron fence. VOCAL-TX organized the event alongside Popular Democracy and People’s Action. Attendees chanted along to Queen’s “We Will Rock You” played from a rolling speaker.
Stephanie Frizzell, 51, drove from Dallas with her husband to attend the party. Wearing a teal party hat and a gray T-shirt reading “F’ELON AND THE FELON,” Frizzell told statesman.com that she wants Democrats to impeach President Donald Trump and other MAGA supporters. The hour-long gathering featured a conga line to “Love Train,” speeches by organizers, and the beating of two piñatas shaped like a star and a Tesla Cybertruck, spilling leftover Halloween candy while Jacob Serrano, 41, skated around on black rollerskates with red wheels.
