Three finalists are being considered to develop into the next president of Dakota State University (DSU). The selection process follows the announcement that current DSU President Dr. José-Marie Griffiths will transition to a new role as chancellor after the current academic year.
Finalists Announced
The South Dakota Board of Regents announced today that Dr. John R. Ballard, Dr. Ashley Podhradsky, and Dr. Gillian Wilson will be interviewed on March 26.
Dr. John R. Ballard
Dr. Ballard currently serves as president of the National Intelligence University, leading a multi-campus institution focused on workforce development and technology. He has held positions on three continents, including roles in New Zealand, the United Arab Emirates, and the United States. He previously served as the first provost of the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy and as vice president of the American Association of State Colleges.
Dr. Ashley Podhradsky
Dr. Podhradsky is currently the vice president for research and economic development at DSU. In this role, she has advanced the university’s research, partnerships, and national visibility in cybersecurity and applied technology. Her teams have secured over $26.5 million in grants and contracts from organizations including the National Security Agency, National Science Foundation, and Google.
Dr. Gillian Wilson
Dr. Wilson currently serves as vice chancellor for research, innovation and economic development and professor of physics at the University of California, Merced. She leads the university’s research enterprise and strengthens partnerships with industry and federal agencies.
Candidates will visit DSU on March 25-26 to meet with area leaders, faculty, staff, and students. The Board of Regents and representatives from the search committee will conduct interviews.
