Mary Guinan, formerly of Ballybritt, Roscrea, Co. Tipperary and Russellspenn, Rath, Birr, Co. Offaly, passed away peacefully on March 13th, 2026, at her son John’s residence. She was in her 97th year and surrounded by family at the time of her death.
A Life Remembered
Mary, née Maloney, was predeceased by her parents William and Mary, her husband Tom, infant son Thomas, daughter Emby, daughter-in-law Veronica, and brothers Joe and Billy, as well as her sister Chrissie Nixon.
She is survived by her daughter Teresa (Dundalk) and son John (Rath), sons-in-law Sean Minnock and Pat Molloy, sisters Bridie Quegan (Killyon) and Peggy Guilfoyle (Killeen), grandchildren Sandra, Sarah, Laura, Shane, Ann Marie, Jonathan, Thomas and Ciaran, great-grandchildren Jamie and Calum, brother-in-law George, and a wide circle of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives, neighbours, and friends.
Funeral Arrangements
Mary will repose in Boyd’s Funeral Home, Birr (R42YF75) on Sunday, March 15th, from 5 to 7 pm. A Funeral Mass will be held on Monday, March 16th, at 11 am in St. John’s Church, Rath.
Following the Mass, she will be interred with her husband Tom at St. James Cemetery in Eglish. Family flowers only have been requested, with donations welcomed for the Irish Cancer Society.
