Ebba Årsjö Eyes Fourth Paralympic Gold Despite Near Fall

Frustration with Course Design

Årsjö expressed her frustration with the unexpectedly straight sections of the slalom course. “It was for near all, but it’s these straight runs. I’m so incredibly tired of these straight runs. It’s usually straight, but this was brutally straight. I don’t realize what happened, but I released too much,” she stated.

She described the experience as far from the “dance” she anticipated, comparing it to “salt in the mouth.”

Strategy for the Second Run

Looking ahead to the second run, Årsjö plans to focus on incorporating more turns and maximizing her ski control, despite the challenging course conditions. “I hope for a little more turning and then I’ll try to get the skis out a little more. Even though it’s so straight, that’s what I have to try to do.”

Varvara Vorontjichina of Russia currently poses the closest threat to Årsjö’s dominance.

Årsjö’s Paralympic Medal Count

So far in the Paralympics, Årsjö has secured three gold medals in downhill, combined, and giant slalom, as well as a bronze in super-G. The second run of the slalom is scheduled to initiate at 13:00.
