LIVIGNO – Czech snowboarders Ester Ledecká and Zuzana Maděrová posted the fastest times in the initial qualification round of the Olympic parallel giant slalom competition.

Ledecká, the defending gold medalist from Pyeongchang and Beijing, clocked a time of 45.04 seconds in the blue course. Maděrová trailed by 34 hundredths of a second. Advancement to the eighth-finals, scheduled for 13:00, will be determined by the combined time of two runs.

Japan’s Cubaki Miki, the current World Cup leader, currently confirms her position as a top contender, having placed third in the first run, 58 hundredths of a second behind Ledecká.

Ledecká has remained undefeated in giant slalom competitions since 2017, winning all four races she entered at the Olympic Games and World Championships. This season, she initially favored skiing, but after returning to snowboarding two weeks ago at Simonhöhe, Austria, she secured her 26th World Cup victory.

She last faltered in her preferred discipline in December 2021, when she fell in the final at Carezza, Italy. Maděrová has reached the podium five times in the World Cup, including three times this season.
