EU and Indonesia Boost Higher Education via EHEF Partnership

European Higher Education Fair 2026 Connects Indonesian Students with 92 Universities

The European Union and Indonesia launched the 18th edition of the European Higher Education Fair (EHEF) in Jakarta on November 7–8, 2026, bringing together 92 higher education institutions from 14 EU member states. Beny Bandanadjaja, Director of Learning and Student Affairs at Indonesia’s Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Technology, stated at the opening that the partnership gives students access to international academic networks and overseas experience, ANTARA News reported.

Before the Jakarta exhibition at the Catur Dharma Hall in Menara Astra, the fair stopped in Yogyakarta on November 4, drawing more than 5,000 visitors, according to ANTARA News. Aktualita.co noted that the free public event aims to guide prospective applicants through admission requirements, major options, and campus life before they commit to studying abroad. Marco Bonetti of the Delegation of the European Union to Indonesia told Aktualita.co that the platform lets students and parents speak directly with education counselors and diplomatic representatives.

Data from ANTARA News shows that more than 10,000 Indonesians were pursuing studies and research across the EU in 2025. Institutional ties are further cemented by the Erasmus+ program, which has facilitated 1,089 student and staff mobilities from Indonesia to the EU and 1,182 mobilities from the EU to Indonesia since 2021.
